ESOPHAGEAL FOREIGN BODY REMOVAL
Whenever an esophageal foreign body is found, prompt diagnosis and treatment are necessary. A physician must determine the type, time since ingestion, location of the object, and likelihood of complications associated with it. Ingestion of a sharp object or a complete esophageal occlusion requires urgent treatment due to the increased risk of complications. During the endoscopic management of stomach foreign bodies, the airway should be protected, the object must be maintained under control, and any additional injury should be avoided.

BRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY REMOVAL
Children often suffer from foreign body aspiration into their lungs. Flexible and rigid bronchoscopy are the most effective methods for removing foreign bodies from the lungs. It is however necessary to remove the foreign body bronchus surgically via thoracotomy and bronchotomy in 2% of cases when bronchoscopy fails. Anaesthesia is equally challenging for bronchotomy in the paediatric population.
